Ana Maria Betancourt
I am a narrative journalist with more than three years of professional experience in reporting about the Latinx community, culture, climate change, women's health, and identity.
I've published in outlets like El País, Documented NY, The Conversationalist, Mutante, Ojala MX, Palabra by NAHJ, La Audiencia, and El Espectador.
I also have experience in social media management, grant writing, and communication.
I am pursuing an M.A. in Bilingual Journalism and Arts and Culture Reporting at Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism (CUNY). I hold two bachelor's degrees: one in Social Communication and the other in Literary Studies from Javeriana University (Bogota, Colombia).
Before moving to New York, I worked for Mutante, a digital media outlet based in Bogota, focusing on engagement journalism. I have also worked in the New York communications team of the United Nations Environment Programme and did an internship with the Consulate of Colombia in New York.
